Eighty Eight Days- A FTTDWYW Challenge!

impomod

As of today, there are 88 more days until January 1, 2014. Most people make New Years Resolutions but this year, I’m going to do something a little different. I’ve been so inspired by Coralie and her hard work getting back into her jeans that I wanted to do something similar. So, starting today, I am challenging myself and I am going to challenge you, readers. Why wait until next Monday, or New Years. Why not start today? Why not start… right now?

Do you have a room in your house that is cluttered? Do you have a scrapbook you want to complete? Do you have a pair of jeans you want to get back into? Do you want to pack your own lunch for work more? Even if it is as simple as, every day (for the next 88 days) I want to randomly complement somebody– let’s do it! Let’s set a goal and a time frame and do it. Let’s carpe the hell out of this diem. Let’s look back on October 7th as the day we started!

I have a list a mile long of things that I need/want to do. It is so vast that I have become overwhelmed and kind of buried by it. I’m at one of those places where I am feeling so buried by all the things that I have to do that I’ve started doing none of them. Starting today, Imma BUST this rut. I’m going to step up my game and challenge myself.

In 88 days, I’m going to lose 20 pounds. That is my goal. That’s one pound every 4.4 days- totally reasonable. I’m going to do it the right way– nothing dangerous, or drastic… because doing things that way never give you permanent results. Imma do it the right way– by stepping up my game. I’m going to amp up my workouts (whether it is by adding an extra 15 minutes to my walk/run or doing more reps) and pro-actively watch what I eat. Again, nothing crazy. I’m not going to completely cut out anything food wise… but there is a difference between eating a cookie and eating all the cookies. There. I’ve said it. I’ve put it out into the universe. That is my goal. I’ve made a new workout mix and am ready to literally hit the ground running. In addition, I’m going to knock at least one thing off my list.

I/You have 88 days. There is sooo much you could do in 88 days. 88 days seems like a long time, yes… but as I’ve gotten older, time has become more nebulous. I mean, can you believe it is already October 7th? Neither can I!

Whether you want to do or NOT DO something for 88 days, join me! Until January 1, Imma post every other Monday on my progress; in brutally honest detail. I would love to have some compatriots along for the journey… things are always better with support. So, pick something! Put it out there! Ask for support! Even if it is a project that will take more than 88 days, at least take the first step. As somebody said, “I cannot promise it will be easy, but I can promise it will be worth it.”

I can’t wait to toast our success on New Years Eve!

Will you join me in the FTTDWYW challenge?

  1. Leigh! This is wonderful! First of all, just 88 days til New Year’s is crazy! However, 88 days is kind of the perfect length- long enough to get so etching accomplished & yet not so long you loose sight of the finish line! Whew-hooooooo! My commitment will be to get a hold of my retail therapy tendency that has reared it’s head of late AND to improve my grade to 85%-B.

  2. I’m gonna get some points for posting this the second time. (I got so fixated on turning those funny faces, that I didn’t hit submit!) I had a chance to back down…but I’m not going to do it. I’m in Leigh for 20 pounds! I’ve been thinking and planning to work on this, but you’ve inspired me to start today!!

    Happy New Years….in 87 days!

    • I LOVE IT, Janey-b! LOVE IT! You are among good company. The response to this has been inspiring! Part of this deal is that NEXT Monday, Imma check in with you! I am jealous of the awesome fresh veggies/herbs that I am sure are growing out at your place.
