Sometimes you just gotta let loose. There are millions of ways to let loose and however you choose to do so, is fine with me. Well, as long as it doesn’t hurt anybody or yourself and as long as it’s not going to land you in the slammer! Every once in a while, everybody needs to just do something fun. I am not suggesting totally and completely checking out of reality and responsibilities- but, I am suggesting putting all that on the back burner for a couple hours.
That’s what I did yesterday. And that’s why this post is late being posted. It wasn’t on purpose that I forgot to write this post yesterday evening, it’s just that I was totally distracted. I had actually planned to do a book report for today, but I think I will save that for next week in favor of this topic that Leigh suggested I explore- my favorite hangover remedies. So, here goes!
Used to, I would just take some ibuprofen and drink some water and wait for it to work its magic and usually- it worked. But, then I met this wonderful man (who I later married) that enlightened me about what to take that never fails to make you feel like a human again. And it’s Alka Seltzer Plus Cold. Drop those two tablets into some Gatorade, let them fizz and drink it down. It will only be a short amount of time before you start to feel like a human again. Also, I will add this caveat- Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold also works magic when you a just generally sick, not necessarily suffering from the cocktail flu. However, if you can remember to take this before you go to bed when you feel the cocktail flu is immanent, that is optimal but, you can take it the next morning and it will still work out for you.
There are some other things that take on a new level of awesome-ness when you are overcome with the cocktail flu. The first is fried chicken. What is that old wive’s tale about feed a cold and starve the flu? Well, when suffering from the cocktail flu, you’re going to want to feed yourself and in all likelihood, you are going to want to feed yourself with some greasy deliciousness. Another something that is also particularly awesome when you are suffering from the cocktail flu is a big ole wonderful cheeseburger. If there is anything nice about the cocktail flu, it’s that it usually only lasts for a day, tops.
And regardless if you find yourself eating fried chicken or a cheeseburger, if you drink a bunch of water, get some rest and seriously- do what ever you have to do to get some Alka-Seltzer Cold Plus, you will be feeling fine in no time!
I hope this little insight into navigating your next bout with cocktail flu helps you recover in as short amount of time as possible with as small of an amount of pain as possible.
